Field Assistance & Support Team

Field Assistance & Support Team (FAS Team or Flankers) members must be proficient in various areas of Search and Rescue.  They must be skilled in radio communications, map reading and compass techniques, land navigation, GPS systems, tracking, note taking, ropes and knots, and able to provide basic human First Aid as needed.  In addition, flankers must be knowledgeable in NIMS and ICS systems.

Description:
Formerly with the National Guard, Don comes to Mark9 with a background in wilderness environments -- he has experience in kayak/white water conditions, ice climbing in Alaska, and enjoys rock climbing, rapel work, and photography.

 

Matt Welsh

Description:
Matt and his wife, Lori, live in Irving with their 4 dogs and 2 cats. Matt joined Mark9 after volunteering as a "victim" for Mark9's training exercises. Matt enjoys hunting, tracking, and camping. 

 

Sharon Beckerich

Description:
Sharon's background in dog rescue work and a passion for the outdoors led her to Mark9. After a long career in the legal profession, she currently is CFO of a small radio communications company began by her husband, Jay, in 1991. Her interests include sailing, wilderness camping, and long distance motorcycling. Sharon and her husband currently share their home with 2 GSDs and one Siberian Husky, and when time permits enjoys bareboat sailing in the Caribbean and West Indies, or wilderness camping and exploring the wildlife during their annual canoe trips to Quetico Canada. Her past volunteer work has included Camp Wolfgang German Shepherd Rescue until it closed, and also with Patriot Paws Service Dogs working with the puppy raisers and dog trainers, and ongoing corporation sponsorships through her company.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cindy Prescott

Description:
Cindy has a passion for horses, she is a life long equestrian. She loves camping, hiking,endurance ridng, novice level agility/obedience trainer. She is looking forward to finding the right dog to train for SAR and becoming and K9 handler for Mark9.
